The Department of Energy released its weekly report on the condition of petroleum inventories in the United States today.

Here are some highlights:

Crude oil inventories decreased by 0.4 million barrels to a total of 346.4 million barrels. At 346.4 million barrels, inventories are 4.8 million barrels above last year (1.4%) and are now slightly above average. Supply at NYMEX delivery point, Cushing, Oklahoma rose 1.2 million barrels to 38.6 million barrels this week.

Gasoline inventories decreased 3.6 million barrels to 234.7 million barrels. At 234.7 million barrels, inventories are now 2.8 million barrels, or 1.2% higher than last year (last week that number was unavailable). The only increases in gasoline inventories...

Didn't I just read somewhere last week that oil reserves were at their 20 year high? The spin they have going on the oil market is genius.

How about a good old fashion boycott? The only way (in my estimation) that gas prices will go down is if EVERYONE were to boycott just one major oil company's fuel stations. Like say, every Shell and any of it's sister stations (whatever they may be) OR Exxon OR (pick one, any one) Then, the one company would have to sell their product for a fair price or go out of business. No more gouging by the big oil companies. This idea was suggested some years ago, but never picked up any steam. I seem to recall it was Exxon we were all supposed to boycott (back in the days of the Valdez spill maybe) But we didn't have Exxon here in Colorado to boycott so what to do? Anyway, maybe 2 companies together, like Texaco and Conoco \ Phillips would work here. How does that sound?

sometimes we get overwhelmed by statistics , but the reality is we are paying much more no matter what the inventories stats say .
up here ( Ottawa , Ontario , Canada )we are really paying .
example : Today Mar.3,2011 @ 12.43 AM , reg gas is $121.7 ( average all over town ) per litre ( 4.5 litres = 1 gallon ) = $5.47 a gallon . OUCH OUCH !!

Inventory reports are completely irrelevant this week. The Middle-East troubles are fueling our insane prices.

Gasoline prices are increasing at a much higher rate or ratio compared to prices in 2008. Back then gasoline didn't reach our current price of $3.50 per gallon until crude was near $120 per barrel. Once crude reached $147 per barrel, we paid $4.14 per gallon.

An example on May, 2008:
crude price $130
gas price $3.80

At the rate gas prices are advancing, gasoline will cost over $5 per gallon if crude again hits that $147 mark.

In other words, when crude reaches $130 per barrel this time, expect to pay over $4.25 per gallon.

Believe it is past time to eliminate the Dept. of Energy! Oh, by the way, gas prices in central KY went UP by $0.12 cents today to a new high of $3.49.

Store a little less crude, make less fuel = price goes up on fuel. Conservation keeps your money in your pocket.

Inventories are still higher, and of course so are the prices. Pure manipulation, not speculation.

How true tobin2010.

Gasoline futures jumped 16 cents a gallon Monday, 9 cents Tuesday, 4 1/2 cents Wednesday. That is 30 cents so far this week and it is only Wednesday. Even higher prices soon!
