How much coal does it take to produce 8KWh of electricity costing less than $2.00? NOT MUCH. It'll cost less than a nickel a mile to power a Chevy Volt compared to about 14 cents for gasoline in my functionally equivalent new car. Check out the prospects for getting many more gas-fired powerplants; it's much cleaner than coal and vast quantities have been discovered recently. Several gas pipelines are in the works. One benefit is that America sends less money to its adversaries; we keep the money and the jobs in North America (no small item, eh?). Oh... the folks doing the analysis at Baker's outfit considered the effect of generating more electricity. Jim Baker was Regan's Chief of Staff, right? Bush's right hand man? Treasury Secretary?
