It kinda confused me in the last 3 paragraphs. While leaving a giant stuffed panda in the driver's seat would indeed remind me about a kid in the back. Don't you think driving from the passenger seat, so the panda can occupy the driver's seat would radically increase the odds of an accident while in motion. Maybe it's from the mind of Obama.

airforce: one woman here in town "forgot" the infant in the car while she played hours of Farmville inside a friend's house.
I don't get it, I have to admit. Two and four-legged family are more important to me than playing a stupid game, but it seems, in today's world, I may be the exception.

How could you leave a child in a car? A wife or husband i can understand, but not kids or animals.

diamar: prosecution is being done (not persecution, look up the difference), but it still happens, and it seems to happen with higher frequencies lately as people are more concerned about smartphones, sharing their location, and what-have-you rather than being concerned about the safety of a child (or pet).

shouldn't that be just "normal" (oh wait, in an age where FB and twitter status updates are more important than thinking of your kid or pet, I guess that's no longer "normal").

I think the word you mean here is PROSECUTED. Or do you want them to be PERSECUTED instead?

Unfortuantely this message is applicable and should always be reiterated. There have been numerous stories about people leaving their childre, and pets in cars. Now I am inclined to think someone forgetting they have a child in the car that they just buckled in is totally asinine or drug related and should be persecuted to the fullest.

That is unbelievable to leave a baby or small child in the car. How mindless does one have to be to forget that a person whom he or she had to strap in 20 minutes before? What is wrong with these people?

A very simple remedy, never leave anyone in a hot car. They are much better off outside the car even in the sun.

Same answer as yesterday. My kids always come with me, or I leave them at home with the wife or somebody else. Never by themselves, and certainly never in the car.

Yup, lock the kids in the car and go into a nice air conditioned bar for a couple cool ones.

Seems simple enough... but then how many people forget to NOT use their smartphone while driving? So many things should be "automatic" in peoples minds... but I'm sure there are people here thinking "It's OK... I've done it before and it was OK...".
So the child/pet "suffers" a few minutes in the vehicle... how will the Driver know he/she did wrong? Course when those few minutes turn into 1/2 hour or hours (Because Mommy/Daddy "lost track of time") there is no excuse.
Hope people realize their Bad Habits more clearly, like leaving kids/pets in a Hot Car seems a no-brainer. Now if only people would stop Drinking and Driving... 30+ years of MADD you'd think people would learn.
