PawsGal: you can contact Toyota with the VIN number and find out if that particular model / year possibly has the problem.

toyoto is notorious for avoiding recalls.they drug their feet on all i can remember, and totally avoided some.i've always been happy when a manufacturer thought enough of me as a customer to voluntarily fix their mistakes.the only way i can remain a customer is if they keep me alive.

The gov't may be on a witch hunt for non-UAW carmakers, but Toyota cannot let themselves be railroaded.

Fix the problem ASAP, make sure people know they are driving a quality car and a company that cares about their safety! Not a vehicle that will catch on fire and race out of control at high speeds.
Whatever the size or shape of the vehicle, Produce and ‘Drive’ vehicles with high MPG, are very safe and reliable, have a ‘reasonable’ cost and a good ‘value’ for the money. Consider using other forms of less expensive transportation to lower your cost, if possible.
The price of fuel at the pump is too high!

As these items become known to the general public, Toyota's reputation will tarnish.
