The question is did you support America when you got your new car or some other country? How patriotic are you? Are you shipping our money over to support another countries way of life?

I bought my vehicle when times were better, and took what was given. Why didn't I wait? Urgency of the now I guess.

I did ok this time since it was a used vehicle but the last new car I made a great deal. I told them I only could afford so much per month by financing. They knew the car I was wanting. They wanted the sale. I just kept saying NO to all their deals. Finally when it got to the range I could afford, I told them it was still against my better judgement but said ok. The sales person wasn't sure if the manager would approve. I had to argue my case with him too but they finally agreed. We set up the financing and after I got home, I paid it off with cash......saved thousands before the financing costs were included.

With nothing left besides some loose change in my pocket, I can't even afford to turn the ignition key.

Car companies just as well quit giving rebates through their dealerships. They should send rebates directly to the buyer. All the car companies are doing is lining the dealers pockets. They give a $5000 rebate and the dealer expects you to pay MSRP less $4000. Don't believe invoice prices as actual prices paid to manufacturer.

The Saleslady (person) was brand New on-the-job...about 2-weeks. We drove a Honda Hybrid model that everyone test drives, and it was pretty much knock-up & dragging in the noises and sort. When we Purchased our hybrid we payed a slighty less Price than that Model we took Home. We payed the demo price for our hybrid,... but our hybrid was not a demo car!! So I got a Great Deal, and then the girl (salesperson) was young enough that this was her first job, and in the two weeks she'd been there this was her first sale!!

"Having been a car salesman in the past. Most people pay way to much and think they got a great deal."

Thanks for the insight laser1946. Any chance you would share some examples from your experiences to give us a clearer picture of the process? Perhaps you would need to start a new topic for that.

The deal was good. The price was average, but the sales person did not pull any tricks to make a custormer pay more money, like the others I've met before!

Totally lousy deal - it was actually a Toyota Camry we bought in 2005. We put very few miles on it, currently owe about $13,000 on it. The dealer where we bought it won't cover it, and they are selling NEW vehicles (Camry's) for less.

So let's see - now I'm upside down in my house, upside down in my car, my wife lost her job and I'm paying more taxes. You tell me how this is going to end up! (Duh)

Thank God for Himself - that's the Only Thing that makes sense.

I purchased a 1999 VW Beetle (TDI-Diesel) 4 years ago, used for $8000 CDN.
It had 172,000 km and now has 270,00 km and is running like a top!
I use Bio diesel whenever possible, failing that Sunoco Gold diesel
and have averaged 52.5 mpg (Imp)over the past 4 years. I have averaged
about $600.00 in fuel costs per year.

I will deal it at 300,000kms and it will be another VW diesel without
question, probably a used (I almost always buy used) Jetta this time.

Hello,
We leased our first new vehicle. We have good payments but I am not sure until we turn it in if we got a good deal. It is a 2008 Pontiac G6 which will no longer be made, so I don't know !!

I got a terrible deal. 08 Ranger purchased in October 07 right before the economy decided to crap out. In record time the price of a brand new Ranger dropped by thousands. 2WD Sport supercab with minimal options ran me for $24gs. Now people are picking up 4x4 with a healthy set of options for that price.

I bought my car from an individual on Craig's List and paid about $3500 less than what it books for on NADA. I got a great deal! Just have to find the people who really want to get rid of a car.

A cheap car can be the best choice for one to make, as long it doesn't eat one alive to keep it up.

Funny how no one thinks they got a bad deal. We all have a tendency to want what is best, but to also think that we get the best. Car salesmen know this. We all get "great deals" and yet they're still making enough money to stay in business. Hmm . . .

My deal was just ok. On top of it, I got screamed at from the car dealer because he did not like what I was willing to pay. I was ready to walk but my husband was insistent - he needed a car urgently because his old one had broken down beyond repair over one month earlier, and he was fed up carpooling and walking to work.
