“The 2012 Initial Quality Study identified 15 brands with quality ratings above the industry average, up from 10 brands in 2011.”
Is my number sense missing something?

All of my new cars are generally about 7 or 8 years old. I'm still driving 1997 technology.

“. . . increasingly have reported problems with audio, entertainment and navigation systems . . .”
I’m OK with a simple audio system (radio and CD player) but deliver me from entertainment and navigation systems — just more ways to be distracted and get into an accident. There is way too much computerized junk in cars already.
I’m surprised Subaru is not on the top-rated list; ours have always been trouble free.

New cars cost more to fix. Unless they build them to run long and last.

They don't need to take it in for audio help, they need to take it to their kids.

a car is not a car unless it has a standard transmission THAT I'M IN CONTROL OF.
automatics are for lazy drivers and are always BEHIND THE CURVE.

The term "Initial quality" is an ad man's scam and J.D. Power has made a fortune with this dishonest little play on words. It began back in 1985 with the introduction of the Ford Taurus. It excludes the two most important aspects of true quality, which are durability and reliability, neither of which can be "initially" judged.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. As to Ford SYNC, my Ford dealer has a resident SYNC expert who can explain the hoops you have to go through to use an Apple device with it. First one is it takes a while for the list of tracks to download from the iDevice to the SYNC computer, during that time you can't use the speech commands. Second one is it sometimes does not play music after it is plugged in (it counts down and plays silently), that corrects when you unplug the device, plug the device back in, and re-select USB. Warts and all, it still stands head and shoulders above any other way to play your own music in your ride.
