Drunk driver’s excuse for speeding and swerving: Squirrel’s fault

Nationa Post -- Often, drivers create fanciful excuses as to why they’re driving erratically or breaking the law.

A Clay County, Fla. police officer was recently gobsmacked to discover that the driver he pulled over was, as he claimed, being eaten by a squirrel.

Deputy J.C. Saunders reports that he pulled over driver Warren Thomas Michael III following reports that his vehicle was speeding and swerving across the road. “Upon contact with the defendant, he immediately told me had a squirrel eating him,” wrote Saunders in his arrest report. “The defendant pointed out a small squirrel he had wrapped under his shirt. After some discussion about the squirrel, I introduced myself and explained the reason for the stop.” The deputy says that he had the defendant “secure the squirrel” before conducting field

What's that on the squirrel's mouth anyway? Looks like it has its lip pierced and some kind of stud hanging off it!

No need to read the whole thing. The teaser paragraphs are enough to make one's head shake in disbelief. Now I've seen it all!

I don't know how many responses in a row you're allowed, so if I exceeded it I apologize. I just had one more thing to say about cars and small animals as they relate to gas milage. You could put a treadmill cage in a car and hook it up as an assist to the engine so that when the little buggers were chasing after their treat on a string, it would improve your gas milage a little bit. Hey, just a thought!

The part that says a cobra and a mongoose is a car, should be "in a car".

Let's have more of those squirrel stories, I think they're great. Ray Stevens made a fortune off of his story about a squirrel. Let's not stop there though, a story about a cobra and a mongoose loose is a car would be hilarious especially if the driver of the car was a crossdressing Baptist preacher who couldn't afford to stop the car lest he was exposed to his congregation. I think I saw this story on one of those world's dumbest driver shows but maybe minus the cobra and mongoose.

The squirrel is really cute, but the article doesn't really have anything to do with gas prices.

This was on TV last week and the squirrel was his pet. Must give him credit for having a very unusual excuse to try to get out of his DWI. Bet the police officer, who pulled the driver over, has won the prize for the most creative excuse. Wonder if the squirrel was hungry and was looking for some nuts.

Too funny..! Driving while distracted is dangerous, whether the influence is alcohol/drug impairment, sleep deprivation, or being eaten behind the wheel.

That's a $100 fine for DUI and a $10,000 fine for not wearing his seatbelt - plus another $5000 because the squirrel wasn't wearing his.
