I guess it's okay to have parts of the country look like the former East Germany or many industrial regions of Russia. Both places were cancers of various sorts and allergies run rampant.

Coal-fired power plants should be heavily regulated, and no new ones built.

It will be interesting to see what happens when these coal plants shut down and there is shortages of electricity and increased electrical prices because of it.

Even the so-called clean coal is a threat to human life and should be banned.

The problem is we have too much coal available. Someone want to make money from it. Cheap electricity seems the way to go, but it is VERY short sighted.

I agree with jrsva. Coal burning for electricity should be banned. There are many more ways out there that don't produce nearly the amount of pollution coal does.

well, gee, ya see, those darn feds want us to stop dropping mercury around for some reason, and we jus wanna git more coal burnin.
Nuclear power is the only way to go - no pollution (we can get a breeder going to deal with the waste).

We need to rein in new coal-fired generation. Coal is dirty, dangerous to mine and bad for the environment every step of the way. Existing plants will continue in use for years but new plants are rarely justifiable.

Wonder if we could burn the EPA bureaucrats in place of coal. But they are so full of crap and themselves they'd probably just make a bigger stink.

Politics taking priority over economics.
Coal should be used for electric production, natural gas for heating and transportation, and alternatives need to become more competitive... they need more research and maybe allowed non-profit status.
